MEEKER | This past week concluded the Meeker Elementary School Reading Competition! About 80 elementary students participated in the contest. The prizes were distributed according to the most minutes read by each student, with the top three winners per grade receiving prizes. Because of community donations, prizes included $40 for first place, $30 for second place, and $20 for third place plus candy for the other participants.
We would like to thank Caroline’s Louisiana Kitchen, Elk Mountain Inn, Watt’s Ranch Market, Home.Made., Kevin and Hannah Borchard, Georgann Amack and John Strate for their generous donations towards a great cause. Our entire goal during this competition was to reignite a fire for reading. We would not have been able to achieve this goal without our community donations, the elementary staff working with us to promote the competition, and elementary parents encouraging their children to read! Pictured are some of the elementary school winners of the competition with Ainsley and Adison Selle.
